What is key pad?

A keypad is a set of buttons arranged in a block or "pad" which bear digits, symbols, or alphabetical letters. They may be used on their own, embedded in a larger device, or integrated into a keyboard or laptop keypad. The most common type of keypad is the numeric keypad, found on standard computer keyboards and used for mathematical calculations and data entry. Keypads can also be used for security purposes, with PIN numbers or access codes required to gain entry to an area or device. Other keypads include gaming keypads, which are used for gaming, and point-of-sale keypads, which are used for transactions in retail settings. Modern keypads can be either mechanical or touch-sensitive, and some even feature illumination or haptic feedback for ease of use.
